Ibn Umar reported: He passed by a bedouin on a journey and the bedouin’s father had been a friend of Umar, may Allah be pleased with him. Ibn Umar said to the bedouin, “Are you not his son?” The bedouin said, “Of course.” Ibn Umar ordered that he be given a donkey from his entourage, and he took off his turban and gave it to him. Those who were with him said, “Would it not have been enough only to give him two coins?” Ibn Umar said, “The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Respect the loved ones of your father and do not cut them off, lest Allah extinguish your light.”
